kiwanis international
The Kiwanis club of Umatilla was founded in 1936. Membership includes retired and currently employed men and women from all walks of life. We are a part of Kiwanis International, a thriving organization of service and community-minded individuals supporting children and young adults. Our club responds to the needs of our community through it's sponsorship of local youth activities. Our major projects are: Purchase of playground equipment at Larkin Park, scholarships to Umatilla High School, funds and judging for local school science fairs, ticket and gate service at Umatilla High School football home games, flag service on Route 19 in Umatilla on holidays, donating dictionaries to third graders in the Umatilla area, Umatilla island median maintenance and funds for numerous local youth organizations. Sponsor of the Key club at Umatilla High school, the Builder's club at Umatilla Middle school and the Terrific Kids club at SpringCreek Elementary school.
On October 15, 2011, the Umatilla Kiwanis club received $5,000 from the Florida's Natural Growers Foundation to support the Umatilla area. This year the $5,000 will be allocated to the Umatilla Boys and Girls club, the Sunrise Arc organization, the Umatilla High School Key Club, a Umatilla High School scholarship and local robot scientific teams. Florida's Natural continuing commitment to Umatilla youth and the community as a whole is greatly appreciated. These funds allow the Umatilla Kiwanis club to significantly increase our yearly contributions for worthy projects. On November 4, 2010, the Umatilla Kiwanis club received $4,000 from the Floridas' Natural Foundation to support Umatilla area youth and community projects. This year, the $4,000 will be allocated to the Umatilla Library for children books and projects, the Umatilla Elementary school for rocket launch kits, the Spring Creek Elementary school for a robot competition, support of area school science fairs and for a Umatilla High school scholarship. We greatly appreciate the Florida's Natural grant, which in conjunction with Kiwanis contributions, allows all of us to support our youth and community. On November 2009, The Umatilla Kiwanis received a $4,000 grant from Florida's Natural to support the Umatilla community which we will use for Science Fair support and a scholarship. The Umatilla Kiwanis Club has a Foundation which is a 501c3 tax exempt corporation and donations are greatly appreciated for area youth programs. A 501c3 foundation was a part of the overall requirement for receiving a Florida's Natural grant. Website Sponsors |
